All the stadiums of Liga 1, 2, 3 will undergo a total overhaul

President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo asked the Minister of Public Works and Public Construction (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono to check the total of all stadiums in Indonesia after the The Kanjuruhan tragedy.

This was communicated by Jokowi at a press conference in Malang on Wednesday (5/10) afternoon WIB. Jokowi was present in Malang after the Kanjuruhan tragedy.

“I will order the Minister of Public Works to check a total of all stadiums used for the championship, both Liga 1, 2, and all 3. Are the gates according to the standard wide enough? Are the gates sized according to the standard of field management who are in control, all of them, ”Jokowi said.

“From this incident we have to fix everything, match management, field management, stadium management, we have to do total control. I don’t want this incident to happen again in our country,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi’s order to carry out a full audit of all stadiums in Indonesia was carried out after the Kanjuruhan tragedy which killed 131 people.

Hundreds of victims died after Saturday’s match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya (1/10).

This tragedy began when the authorities tried to disperse Aremania on the pitch after the match. In the match at the Kanjuruhan stadium, it was claimed that there were no Persebaya or Bonek fans watching live there.

In a series of attempts to disperse crowds on the field, officers used tear gas – which, based on testimonies and also circulating video footage, were fired in the stands.

Fans in the stands in panic, tried to push themselves out of the stadium. In the midst of the panic, many spectators ran out of breath, fell and were trampled to death.

For this incident, the government formed an independent fact-finding team led by coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs Mahfud MD to investigate and thoroughly investigate the fatal tragedy.
