All riders in Tour de France test negative for coronavirus again | NOW

All remaining 156 riders in the Tour de France were also tested negative for the corona virus in a second mandatory control lap. It means that all teams can start the third and last week on Tuesday.

The Tour organization states in a statement that the test result of all 785 people within the so-called ‘bubble’ is negative.

A week ago, everyone also underwent a mandatory corona test during the first rest day of the world’s largest cycling race, in which ‘only’ four staff members of different teams and race boss Christian Prudhomme tested positive.

Even then, no teams had to go home, because the rule is that the Tour must be left if two or more people within a formation turn out to have the corona virus.

On Monday, yellow jersey wearer Primoz Roglic already revealed that all riders in his Jumbo-Visma team had tested negative during the second check. The strong Dutch formation can therefore continue the hunt for the Slovenian’s overall victory.

The riders will face a tough sixteenth Tour stage on Tuesday. The 164-kilometer course between La Tour-du-Pin and Villard-de-Lans includes five climbs, one of the first and two of the second category.
