All Neil Young music removed from Spotify | Abroad

The 76-year-old Young would be a podcast by Joe Rogan, which can be heard exclusively via Spotify. Rogan is a well-known presenter and his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience is the most listened to podcast in the world with an estimated 11 million listeners per episode. He regularly spreads disinformation about the coronavirus. In April last year he called on healthy young people not to be vaccinated, recently he spoke with the controversial virologist Robert Malone.

Young expressed his criticism of the podcast in an open letter to his management and Spotify. In the letter, which has since been taken offline, the Canadian writes, according to American media that the streaming service “helps spread potentially deadly information” by broadcasting Rogan’s podcast. “They can choose between Rogan and Young, but not both,” the singer writes to Spotify.

A Spotify spokesperson tells The Washington Post that it is making “all the audio in the world” available to its users. “That entails a great responsibility,” explains the spokesperson, who emphasizes that the company balances “between safety for the listeners and freedom for the makers.”

“We have deleted more than 20,000 podcast episodes related to Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify but hope to welcome him back soon.”
