Alfa Romeo’s future in F1 depends on future decisions at the board level in Italy The Gazzetta dello Sport Reports.
Luigi Perena, a reporter for the newspaper, reports that the merger of Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group has raised questions about the future of Alfa Romeo’s partnership with Sauber.
The new company Stellantis, which was created by the merger, is a huge automobile manufacturer group that integrates Fiat Chrysler Griep including Alfa Romeo with Peugeot, Citroen, Opel and Vauxhall.
“The new global car giant’s plans from the merger of FCA and PSA also include a redefinition of the group’s branded sporting activities,” Luigi Perna said.
“It starts in 2018 with Biscione, the sponsor of the Sauber / Ferrari team,” he added, referring to Alfa Romeo’s iconic logo.
“Whether the historic brand stays in F1 depends on a new industrial plan derived from the merger announced on January 4, after more than a year of negotiations.”
