The Directorate of Health Affairs in Alexandria issued today a statement in which it revealed the truth of what was circulated on social media pages about the infection of a newly born infant with the newly discovered Crohn virus, confirming that the infection with which the child is a common form of “Corona” discovered since the sixties of the last century, It is a type of common cold.

The health statement – Masrawy obtained a photocopy of it – stated that what happened in Alexandria represented in the entry of a two-month-old newborn – from the children of the Burj Al-Arab Center – to a private hospital, on the 21st of this month with bronchitis, “a popular syndrome”, and he suffers from Symptoms of cold, cough, and fever for 15 days. The statement added that the result of virus analyzes showed that the child was infected with the “oc43” corona virus, which is a common type of Crohn virus, which causes symptoms of simple colds such as cold, cough, and high temperatures, and causes no more severe symptoms except in cases of HIV patients and some patients Heart, children and the elderly.

The Directorate clarified that the name “Virus krona” refers to a large number of viruses that cause respiratory diseases, ranging from a simple cold to severe respiratory diseases depending on the type of virus. The common corona is responsible for 10 to 15% of the common cold that affects humans annually.

Dr. Alaa Othman, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Alexandria, confirmed that no new cases of the newly infected Crohna virus would appear, and that the virus that infected the child is one of the common viral Crohna viruses discovered since the 1960s, which is one of the many viruses responsible for catching and multiplying the common cold.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health pointed out that the infected child did not leave the country since his birth and did not contact any person coming from the areas of the emergence of the new Virus Krona, noting that the “oc43” virus infected with the child differs from the newly infected Virus Krona “ncov-2019”, which appeared in the province “Hobby”, the Chinese, and began to spread inside China, East Asia and a number of other countries of the world, causing a large number of deaths and injuries, as it differs from the virus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), or the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
