Boston University (BU) has released its first official statement following sexual harassment allegations made by Call Her daddy host, Alex Cooper, against her former soccer coach. The allegations are featured in Cooper’s new documentary, Call Her Alex.
University Statement on Sexual Harassment
The university’s statement, sent to Rolling Stone, did not directly address Cooper’s specific accusations. Instead, BU asserted its commitment to a safe campus surroundings. “Boston university has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment. We have a robust system of resources, support and staff dedicated to student wellbeing and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office,” the statement read.
The university further stated, “We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all.”
Cooper’s Allegations Detailed
Cooper alleges that her coach made her “deeply uncomfortable” through verbal remarks and physical touch. She claims the coach began to “fixate” on her during her sophomore year, with encouragement on the field intertwined with personal inquiries. These included “wanting to know who I was dating, her making comments about my body, and her always wanting to be alone with me,” Cooper stated.
At the time, Cooper was on a full-tuition athletics scholarship and feared potential repercussions for resisting the alleged harassment. “Every time I tried to resist her, she would say, ‘There could be consequences,'” Cooper saeid.
Did You know? Title IX protects students from sex-based discrimination in educational programs and activities that receive federal funding. The Department of Justice enforces Title IX.
University’s Response to Initial Complaint
Cooper claims she submitted written documentation about her interactions with the coach to Boston University. According to Cooper, the university declined to fire the coach but allowed Cooper to retain her scholarship even if she chose not to play on the soccer team.
“No investigation. within five minutes, they had entirely dismissed everything I had been through,” Cooper said, noting she did not play soccer her senior year.
Former Coach’s Silence
Feldman, the former coach, has not yet released a statement regarding Cooper’s claims. She retired from Boston University in 2022.
Cooper’s Motivation for Speaking Out
Cooper revealed on a recent episode of Call Her Daddy that she initially hesitated to speak publicly. However, she chose to share her experience after learning that similar incidents were allegedly still occurring on campus in 2025. “I discovered the abuse and trauma I had been subjected to at Boston University was still actively happening on that campus in 2025, a decade after I left,” she said. “It really put in viewpoint that the harassment and abuse of power was, and is, so much bigger than me. It is systemic and it’s happening everywhere.”
