The mayor of Santiago, Felipe Alessandri, asked that go ahead the curfew implementation schedule to prevent the circulation of more people on the streets and new coronavirus infections.
According to the proposal of the mayor of the capital, the idea would be to advance the curfew to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.
In addition to this, for weekends he proposed that the measure initiate the Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. and ends on Mondays at 5:00 p.m., as recorded 24 hours.
“Several mayors have raised it, perhaps one last effort. I know it has been super complex; in Santiago we have been quarantined for 107 days, more than any other city in the world, but perhaps one last squeeze can help us to quickly get confused ”, he indicated in the middle of an activity with taxi drivers in O’Higgins Park.
Alessandri also assured that “I prefer a drastic one-time measure, before continuing to extend this quarantine that already has us all tired means “.
Regarding a possible lack of confidence in the capital, the mayor assured that “it is very soon and we cannot give wrong messages to citizenship. Let’s not relax; no coffee and beers with friends no matter how much you want “.
Alessandri indicated that it is necessary to be cautious because the contagion figures are still high in the capital. “If you give a message of mistrust, people start to relax, it already happened in mid-April and contagions shot up,” he added.
Classes in 2020
Asked about what will happen with the face-to-face classes this year, the mayor indicated that “I am the supporter of more schools in Chile, and against that we have a specific weight. The conditions are not for schools to resume classes this 2020 ″.
“I know that there is no better place for children to learn than in the classroom, but the grandchildren of the children who are in third grade today are not going to ask them what happened to them in 2020, they are going to ask them how you survived the pandemic “He added.
