Alert! These are the hallmarks of kidney disease, don’t take it lightly

Jakarta

Kidneys are one of the important organs in the body that have so many benefits. Kidney function is to remove other substances such as excess electrolytes, metabolic waste from food or drugs, regulate blood pressure, produce red blood cells.

“We hear closely about the kidneys to produce urine or urine, but kidney production is not limited to just excreting urine, but also on kidney regulation and production or activation,” said Kalbe’s Medical General Manager, dr. Dedyanto Henky Saputra, M.Gizi, AIFO-K in a written statement received by detik.com, Tuesday (22/3/2022).

However, an unhealthy lifestyle will damage kidney function and cause various diseases. Some diseases caused by kidney damage are urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and chronic kidney disorders which are the most dangerous and permanent.

Symptoms of chronic kidney disease look normal, such as nausea or decreased appetite.

“One of the problems in patients with chronic kidney disease is nausea, when the toxins that should have been removed, we can’t get rid of and accumulate in the bloodstream and even in the oral cavity,” he explained.

Nausea will result in decreased appetite because odorous toxins should be removed. Nausea and decreased appetite can also cause stress due to extreme food restrictions so that weight loss occurs, resulting in malnutrition.

Patients with chronic kidney disease will experience dialysis and predialysis stages which require limiting nutritional intake. Protein intake in chronic pre-renal patients or who have not been on dialysis should be reduced in order to maintain kidney function, so as not to quickly fall into the dialysis stage.

On the other hand, if you have entered dialysis, protein intake must be increased so that when dialysis the protein in the body is also wasted.

Chronic kidney patients also cannot eat carelessly, such as supplements or inappropriate milk.

“Because later the protein will be high for pre-dialysis patients or vice versa for dialysis patients. So choose nutritional supplements that are tailored to their kidney disease,” he concluded.
