Born in Popayán in 1962, Alejandra Borrero is one of the most important Colombian film, theater and television actresses, as well as a cultural manager with her Casa E Borrero and an activist for the Ni con el Pétalo de una Rosa campaign.which seeks non-sexual and physical aggression against women.
And to the delight of those who admire her, she returns in a six-part miniseries called I am María Villa, with the story of this Antioquian painter born on November 16, 1909 in Guarne.
Very young, she went to Medellín, where she held “several jobs, as a pharmacy assistant, domestic worker and shopkeeper in her own business” according to the biography that appears on the Banco de la República website.
Self-taught, he began to paint “with an aesthetic depth, perhaps only possible due to the primary trance with colors and material experiencewhich in the cultured world of art is categorized as a primitive skill or a technique typical of pictorial primitivism”, adds the document.

His work, however, was private. When he was 60 years old, he met Federico Vargas, 22, who proposed to him and admired his “ability to execute portraits and the development of perspective in landscapes”.
Vargas, with good relations, takes her to exhibit in private spaces and museums. The main characteristic of his work is the urban and popular portrait. When he died in 1991, he left a legacy of 300 canvases and some of them are in the Banco de la República collection.

The miniseries is one of the winning projects of Abre Cámara 01, with a prize of 620 million pesos.
