32 drunken sailors caused a large-scale operation by the federal police at Frankfurt am Main airport. The group from Russia and Ukraine were caught on the way to their home countries on board a flight from Windhoek in Namibia because of their heavy alcohol consumption, according to federal police at the airport on Monday.
While still in the air, the captain alerted federal police because the group repeatedly refused to wear face masks and disobeyed cabin crew instructions. A large contingent received the sailors in Frankfurt and escorted them to the station. The officials initiated proceedings against all administrative offenses.
13 of them had to pay security deposits of up to 530 euros. Three sailors had also bothered the flight crew – they were each fined 1030 euros. The group was then able to continue their journey without further incident.
