Former Bayern professional David Alaba has denied a falling out with Munich because of his move to Real Madrid. “There is no such thing as bad blood,” the 29-year-old asserted in “Sport Bild” (Wednesday). At the same time, he defended his action in advertising shots when, shortly after arriving in Madrid, he demonstratively kissed the club’s crest on his Real jersey.

Madrid – Bayern President Herbert Hainer was “surprised by the action”. “I didn’t want to provoke anyone by kissing Real’s coat of arms, especially not FC Bayern and the fans,” assured Alaba.

He will “respect and love the club forever. No action changes that, ”said the defender. After 13 years in Munich, the Austrian was unable to agree on a new contract with the German record champions. Allegedly, Alaba had demanded a significantly higher salary than the Bavarians were willing to pay. The decision to say goodbye was “incredibly difficult” for him, he said.

The former Munich-based Toni Kroos helped him a lot with the integration in Madrid. “He was an important factor in getting me used to it,” said Alaba. Kroos’ wife also supported Alaba’s partner, “that was really nice”. dpa
