Alaba agent denies Barcelona reports

TOR

David Alaba’s agent has denied reports that his client made an oral deal with Barcelona.

Alaba, who has confirmed that he will leave Bayern Munich this summer after his contract expires, has no shortage of suitors.

However, defender Agent Pini Zahavi denied any deal with Barca, saying Tor and SPOX: “That is not true.”

Joan Laporta was elected president of Barcelona at the weekend and is said to have already met Zahavi about a move for Alaba.

Laporta, who previously served as Barca president between 2003 and 2010, are looking to improve the squad for next season at a difficult time for the club.

Barca dropped a trophy last season and are hoping for a new contract with Lionel Messi as the Argentine star is set to become a free agent.

Signing a defender of Alaba’s caliber would convince Messi that Barca can win trophies in the near future.

After breaking off contract negotiations, Alaba confirmed last month that this will be his last season at Bayern.

The 28-year-old has had a trophy break with Bayern and won nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns with the club.

Teams from across Europe have lined up to attract Austrian Barca rivals Real Madrid, who are considered one of the favorites to sign Alaba. Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus were also rewarded with interest.
