This is why “Alaaddin and the Magic Lamp”, the new children’s play by the Darmstadt State Theater, premieres on the Internet next Sunday, November 29th at 4 pm: as a live broadcast that begins with an introduction behind the scenes. Tickets for this are available on the Internet and at the advance booking office on 06151-28 11 60 0; With the ticket there is an access code for the live performance and also the access data for the subsequent discussion, during which questions can be put to the director Annette Raffalt and other participants. The Viennese director and children’s theater specialist has completely reinterpreted the frequently edited fairy tale for the Darmstadt production. Alaaddin is a street boy who learns to take his fate into his own hands. Jasper Engelhardt plays this leading role, Marielle Layher can be seen as the genie in a bottle, and Ali Berber as the magician. Léa Zehaf plays the princess whose love Alaaddin wins.
