airBaltic carried 38% more passengers in July

The Latvian national airline airBaltic carried 209,146 passengers in July this year, which is 38% more than in the corresponding period last year, the company informed.

In July, the airline operated 2,559 flights, which is 27% more than in July 2020.

Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic, said the summer was promising and showed signs of recovery in the aviation sector. “The load factor on our flights has reached its highest level since the beginning of the crisis. However, the number of passengers carried in July was still 64% lower than in July 2019,” he said.

In July, airBaltic’s 15-minute punctuality rate was 78%, down 19 percentage points from July last year. The indicator shows that 78 out of 100 airBaltic flights departed on time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes in July this year.

According to the airline, in seven months of this year, airBaltic carried more than 537,000 passengers, including 44,400 in January, 23,500 in February, 29,200 in March, 49,000 in April, 67,300 in May and 67,300 in May. 114,700 passengers in June.

It has already been reported that in 2020, airBaltic carried a total of 1.34 million passengers, which is 73% less than in 2019.

The Latvian state owns 96.14% of the voting rights in airBaltic’s capital, while the financial investor, Danish businessman Lars Tussen, owns Aircraft Leasing 1 – 3.86%.
