Air France to cut domestic flights for state aid

According to the government in Paris, Air France has to massively reduce the number of its domestic flights in return for government loan guarantees. It is a matter of drastically reducing these connections, Environment Minister Elisabeth Borne confirmed on Sunday in an interview with the radio station France Inter. Domestic routes would be served by high-speed trains.

Air France received an offer for an aid package in April

In April the French government offered the airline a € 7 billion aid package consisting of government guarantees for bank loans and government loans. In return, Air France pledged to reduce domestic carbon dioxide emissions by 50 percent by 2024, Borne said.
