It was Football direct that revealed AIK’s interest in the national team’s second goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt in the beginning of July. Then, however, a transfer was not relevant, as Nordfeldt was clear that he wanted abroad and had a couple of clubs in Turkey that were interested in him, after his successful season in Turkey with Genclerbirligi. AIK has since worked with a couple of other tracks. Head coach Bartosz Grzelak has been in contact with Pontus Dahlberg, who, however, recently finished with Doncaster Rovers in League One.
Nordfeldt negotiates with AIK
At the same time, the club has been in contact with Dinamo Zagreb to loan 34-year-old Danijel Zagorac, who is currently the second goalkeeper in the Croatian club. AIK has also worked with a couple of parallel tracks, without anything going awry. Now the club has the opportunity to bring in Kristoffer Nordfeldt on a short-term contract, the season ends. The reason why the Swedish European Championship player will be open to a move to AIK is mainly that there has been no transition to any of the Turkish alternatives that were relevant at the beginning of the summer. The fact that the Turkish league has reduced its quota of foreign players has made it tougher for Nordfeldt to find a new club, as many clubs then chose to invest in goalkeepers from Turkey instead.
Additional blue-yellow touch at the club
AIK and Nordfeldt are currently in negotiations and if the parties agree, the sports director Henric Jurelius will thus recruit another national team player to the club. It will then be a contract for the rest of the season so that the former BP player can then go to a bigger club abroad, and that AIK’s plan is to invest in Samuel Brolin until the season 2022. Previously, AIK has recruited Sebastian Larsson and Mikael Lustig, who played in the European Championships with Sweden this summer, but chose to end his national team careers shortly afterwards.
