The album is due out in mid-January.
Early next year will mark the 130th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet Osip Mandelstam. Domestic and foreign musicians will celebrate this event with a tribute album to the verses of a famous writer. The disc will be called symbolically – “Keep my speech forever.”
The author of the idea and the main producer, film director Roman Liberov, said that the album will include 23 original musical compositions. The tracks will be recorded by Leonid Agutin, Mumiy Troll, IOWA, Mgzavrebi, Samsara, Noize MC, Pornofilmy, OQJAV and other groups. In addition, a separate video will be shot for each song, uniting contemporary artists and Mandelstam’s poetic images. It should be noted that the compositions will be presented not only in Russian, but also in Georgian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Latvian.
“I want the poet to continue talking to us. The conductors of his amazing speech will be artists who will help to sound this or that poem: their heart will beat in a poetic rhythm, they will strengthen the music in the lines, preserve someone else’s speech, making it their own, ”says Liberov.
We add that the project is non-commercial and is supported by the digital agency Mosaic. The album is expected to be released on January 14, 2021 – just in time for the anniversary of the poet’s birth. By this date, the musicians are going to organize a big concert with the performance of the recorded songs.
