AGRICULTURE – Duvergé fruit and vegetable exports begin to the United States

The Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) reported that producers in the municipality of Duvergé, province Independencia, began exporting two weekly vans of fruits and vegetables to the United States.

According to the entity, the intention of the producers of the AC-584 settlement, El Espartillar project, is to “increase the export” of jalapeño peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, melon, watermelon, molondrones, among other products in demand in the international market .

A company established in the area said it currently prepares about 1,200 boxes of 40 pounds each, which will be shipped every two days in containers to Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata, and then exported.

According to a press release sent by the IAD, the demand for vegetables in the area has led to the generation of 75 daily jobs at the El Espartillar projector and another 130 in Las Baitoas, producing daily boxes of molondrons, also for export purposes.
