Agreement for the establishment of social protection for the benefit of MRE (Ms. El Ouafi)

Rabat – It has been agreed with the Ministry of Labor and Professional Integration, the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and certain departments and ministries concerned, to provide social coverage for Moroccans living abroad (MRE ), said Tuesday in Rabat, the Minister responsible for Moroccans residing abroad, Nezha El Ouafi.

In response to a central question on “The situation of MRE in the light of the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic” in the House of Councilors, Ms. El Ouafi indicated that a report on social security for the benefit of Moroccans residing abroad has been concluded, noting that the processing of this file began in 2014.

The Minister also recalled that several meetings were held with the partners of the Ministry for the preparation of an emergency plan in order to anticipate the economic and social repercussions of the coronavirus crisis.

“The emergency plan is based on three fundamental pillars, namely the acceleration of the work of consular services, the creation of a digital platform as a one-stop shop for Moroccans living abroad, the ministries and all national establishments, as well as agreeing with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Integration, the CNSS and some of the departments and ministries concerned to ensure social protection for MREs, ”she said.

She also indicated that the services of the ministry were able to mobilize its various means abroad in order to support the MRE, by providing psychological support to more than 516 cases in more than 17 countries, in addition to 6,500 legal consultations provided by the Association of the network of Moroccan lawyers.

The Minister also recalled that since the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and MRE and the delegated ministry responsible for Moroccans Residing Abroad have taken on the task of supporting and monitor the situation of all Moroccans residing abroad, support them and provide them with the necessary support as well as meet their different needs.
