The University of Murcia and the Murcian Association for Helping Women with Breast Cancer (Amiga) have signed an agreement to collaborate on the ‘Breast Cancer and Physical Activity’ project. The agreement has been signed by the rector José Luján and by Catalina Ana Martínez Cánovas, president of the Friendly Association.

The agreement highlights the importance “of physical exercise to improve the physical and mental capacity, as well as the quality of life of patients with breast cancer, providing a better prognosis of the disease to people who are undergoing treatment.”

By virtue of this, the agreement allows the development of a health program aimed at improving the quality of life and increasing the survival of women with breast cancer, also contributing to the training of students at the University of Murcia to through this innovative experience, with benefits that have already been proven throughout the accumulated experience.

As a result of the agreement, the UMU will carry out a medical examination adapted to this need, which includes an electrocardiogram, echocardiography and cycle ergometry, as well as an assessment and planning of physical activity that includes various controls and assessments.
