Against Dijon, Lyon does not let Lille go

The Lyonnais remain in contact. Authors of an average match against a courageous but too limited Dijon team, Rudi Garcia’s men won 1-0 at the Gaston Gérard stadium on Wednesday thanks to a goal from Lucas Paqueta (24th). This result allows them to keep their second place and to stay two points behind the Lille leader.

Coupet: “I took a step back with OL”

All was not perfect on the Lyonnais side this Wednesday evening. After 20 minutes of high level punctuated by the opening of the logical score of Lucas Paqueta (22nd), the Gones fell asleep and left Dijon to create several opportunities, in particular by a Dina Ebimbé moving on his right side. Fortunately for Lyon, Dijon only fit one of his nine strikes and Anthony Lopes intervened perfectly in front of Konaté (36th).

The Lyon attackers have multiplied the bad choices

The Lyonnais can then blame themselves for a lack of efficiency in front of goal during a controlled second period. Taking advantage of the spaces left by the offensive Dijon, the Lyon attackers multiplied the bad choices, like a Memphis Depay involved but not successful. They also came across an Anthony Racioppi in a state of grace in the Dijon goal with two exceptional reflex saves in the 17th minute in front of Aouar and in the 53rd minute in front of Depay.

This lack of sharpness was of no consequence thanks to a much more successful second half defensively where De Sciglio, entered at the break in place of an overtaken Maxwell Cornet, managed to close his left side. Always voluntary, the Dijonnais appeared blunt for their second match in three days and did not really put Lyon in danger in the second act. David Linarès’ men also displayed too many deficiencies in the last 30 meters with many missed passes despite an encouraging overall performance.

Worse attack in Ligue 1, the Dijonnais remain 19th and must adjust the sights to hope to maintain. The Lyonnais, for their part, cling to the lead car thanks to a controlled match failing to be frankly successful. This is also what makes great teams.
