After two weeks of reopening, California ordered to close bars due to an increase in coronavirus cases

“With the increase in covid-19 cases, California orders the closing of bars in Fresno, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, San Joaquin and Tulare,” Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom tweeted.

Newsom, which ordered general confinement in late March making California the first state in the Union to do so, had authorized the reopening of the state’s bars beginning June 12, leaving the final word to the authorities in 58 counties.

Los Angeles, the second largest city in the United States, reopened its stores on June 19. But the number of covid-19 cases skyrocketed in California, with a nearly 30% increase in hospitalizations in the past week.

The United States has experienced a significant increase in infections, particularly in the southern and western states, with a notable growth in cases among young people.

Before the outbreak, the governors of Texas and Florida also ordered the bars to be closed again. However, coronavirus cases have been declining in the northeast. The United States is the country most affected in absolute terms by the pandemic, with 2.5 million infections and 125,700 deaths.
