“After the Breakup: Pain Experienced by 79-Year-Old Felix Slováček” – AHA.cz

Felix, how are you celebrating? Do you like them or don’t you?

“I really like to celebrate and I think it’s so right. You just have to celebrate. I don’t think at all that I shouldn’t celebrate my birthday. I have them once, so what. And it doesn’t matter that they are already eighty. It doesn’t just apply to mine, but to others as well. I just love celebrations. Whenever something is happening, I want to be there.”

Do you like receiving gifts?

“Who doesn’t like a surprise! I have. I love fragrances, all kinds of fragrances. I don’t have any favorite brands. It’s strange how opinions change about a fragrance. You come to the store and suddenly you find that you like someone else. That’s why I have more of them at home. I don’t like sweet, more like citrus scents. But I’m always discovering new ones.”

It’s a bit like women. Can you say that they are your lifelong inspiration?

“Of course, women are an eternal inspiration! Not only with us musicians, but in art in general. That’s how it’s always been, is and always will be. And I am no exception. Every time I go to a concert, it’s an adventure for me.”

What do you mean?

“I never know what will happen to me that day. Every concert is not only an adventure, but also a battle for favor. And it’s beautiful when it comes out. Sometimes a fan comes to sign autographs and stays with me for coffee. And maybe there is more to it. It starts with a kiss and ends in bed, you know.” (laughs)

Which age group visits you most often?

“Most probably women from fifty years and older, but young girls also come to listen to me. After all, Lucie (artist Lucie Gelemová – note ed.) was forty years younger. She really loved me!”

Dancing Felix Slovacek and Adriana Sobotová

Why did you break up with her? You were together for seven years.

“She wanted to have children. And it also bothered her that I didn’t get a divorce. I told her: “Lucinka, don’t be angry, it’s not possible anymore, I’m an older man, and if I had a small child, I’d probably go crazy.” I have three adult children, that’s enough and I don’t want any more. Of course, when it ended with her, it hurt. I thought I was a greater hero.’

Have you stayed in touch?

“We can call each other, I have no grudge against her and she against me. But we probably don’t have a reason now.’

Do you remember how it was with the fangirls before? Did you ride with Karl Gottdid you share them?

“It’s the same with female fans. When someone wants a lot, she usually gets what she wants. Back then, everyone went to Karl, he was the first, but of course he couldn’t handle everything, so a little was left for us too.” (laughs)

Felix Slováček is leaving Dada: Who is he taking to Italy instead of her?

Have you always enjoyed it?

“I never thought it was too much. There is always not enough of everything. What should I do then? Lie down somewhere like a pasha and let yourself be fanned? No, I wouldn’t enjoy that. Nothing beats personal contact.”
