PHU THU – PSSI General Chair (Ketum) Mochamad Iriawan commented on the success Indonesian National Team U-23 advance to the semifinals SEA Games 2021. Welcoming this success with joy, Mochamad Iriawan is also optimistic that the U-23 Indonesian National Team can advance to the final round.
As is known, Garuda Muda – the nickname of the U-23 Indonesian National Team – is certain to qualify for the 2021 SEA Games semifinals for men’s football. The results were obtained after beating the Myanmar U-23 National Team with a score of 3-1 at the Viet Tri Stadium, Sunday, May 15, 2022 in the afternoon WIB.
The victory for Garuda Muda was assisted by goals from Egy Maulana Vikri (4′), Witan Sulaeman (10′) and Marselino Ferdinand (45+1′). Egy and colleagues appeared ferocious in the first round.
In fact, Shin Tae-yong’s fleet closed the halftime break with a landslide score of 3-0. Unfortunately, their performance declined in the second half. Luckily, the Myanmar U-23 National Team could only score one goal in return and were unable to make a comeback.
Garuda Muda is certain to advance to the semifinals. However, Shin Tae-yong’s troops are still waiting for their opponent in the semifinals.
There are names from the Thailand U-23 National Team to the U-23 Malaysia National Team which have the opportunity to face Garuda Muda in the semifinals. The determination is based on the results in one remaining match which will be held today.
Meanwhile, Iwan Bule – Mochamad Iriawan’s nickname – welcomed the victory. The retired National Police then gave his appreciation to Asnawi and his friends.
Even so, Iwan Bule will not make a problem in the semifinals against the Thailand U-23 National Team or the U-23 Malaysia National Team. However, he emphasized that the Garuda Muda squad could win the semifinal match later.
“Whoever the opponent is in the semifinals must be defeated,” said Iwan Bule, quoted from the official PSSI website, Monday (16/5/2022).
On the other hand, continued Iwan Bule, he assessed that the performance of the U-23 Indonesian National Team was increasing. Therefore, he is optimistic that Asnawi and his colleagues can step up to the final.
“If you look at the graph of the team’s performance that continues to improve, I believe Indonesia can advance to the final,” concluded Iwan Bule.
