After Puy du Fou, Futuroscope and Walibi also plan to reopen in June, but not Parc Asterix

Futuroscope and the Walibi parks are able to reopen in mid-June if the authorities authorize it, said their owner, Compagnie des Alpes, on Friday, following similar statements from the Vendée Le Puy du Fou park.

“We could be ready to open Futuroscope or Walibi parks in France in mid-June,” said Dominique Marcel, CEO of Compagnie des Alpes, on France Info.

“We are ready, we are waiting for the final green light,” he added, admitting that the parks could not immediately accommodate as many people as usual because of sanitary measures.

The amusement parks are currently closed, despite the lifting on May 11 of the strict confinement decided in France to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

However, on Thursday, the Vendée park in Puy du Fou promised to reopen on June 11. He assured that the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, had decided that these establishments could reopen from June 2, as long as they are in the green zone, that is to say the departments least affected by l ‘epidemic.

Futuroscope is located in the Vienne department, while the two French Walibi parks are located in Isère and Lot-et-Garonne respectively.

“I understand from the public authorities that this could be done from the beginning of June,” added Dominique Marcel, whose group is a subsidiary of a public institution, the Caisse des Dépôts.

The situation is different for another flagship establishment of Compagnie des Alpes, Parc Astérix, which is now in the red zone, in the Paris region.

“We are obviously ready to reopen Parc Astérix as soon as we have authorization,” assured Dominique Marcel.
