After Kahun’s lightning goal: Adler cannot find the right track against Munich

Led by NHL professional Dominik Kahun, EHC Red Bull Munich achieved a prestige win in the test duel when the DEL returned. At the Adler Mannheim, the Munich team prevailed 3: 2 at the start of Group B of the DEL preparatory tournament on Thursday. Kahun, who is temporarily playing again for the EHC, scored the first goal and played more conspicuously than the players with NHL contracts on the Mannheim side, Lean Bergmann and Marc Michaelis.

After goals from Kahun, the new teammate of top star Leon Draisaitl at the Edmonton Oilers, and Philip Gogulla within 38 seconds, the Munich team quickly led 2-0. In the second third, national striker Frank Mauer scored the third EHC goal. For the Adler, newcomer Brendan Shinnimin shortened in the first third and national player Matthias Plachta in the last third.

“Today the friends outweighed the fact that we are back on the ice,” said Adler partner Daniel Hopp at MagentaSport on the edge of the test duel of the most successful DEL teams in recent years. It is an “important day” for the eagles and German ice hockey.

Eight of the 14 DEL clubs take part in the preparatory tournament. It is still unclear whether, in view of the corona pandemic, the new DEL season will begin and should be decided on November 19. “We’d be there,” said Hopp, not ruling out a start with fewer teams: “I just hope we’re 14, if we’re then maybe 13, 12 or even fewer, we’ll try it anyway, we will do anyway. ” The previous DEL season was canceled in March.
