In the third division, the game between 1. FC Kaiserslautern and FSV Zwickau has been canceled. Heavy rain had put the place on the Betzenberg under water.
The game 1. FC Kaiserslautern against FSV Zwickau in the 3rd division has been canceled at short notice. After heavy rain on Saturday morning, the place in the Fritz Walter Stadium is under water and is not playable. It is not yet known when the game will be rescheduled.
“The water stands and it just doesn’t run off,” said Thomas Hengen, Sport’s Managing Director, to SWR Sport. “We tried punching, but the course is getting more and more spongy. It’s impossible to play.”
It is also about the health of the players and about having normal playing conditions, “that would have been impossible today,” Hengen continued.
The cancellation of the game is very inconvenient for FCK: “We really wanted to play today,” said Hengen. “We wanted to catch up with the places in front of us today with a three.”
The catch-up date for FCK-Zwickau is not yet in sight
Initially, the planned kick-off had been postponed by one hour to 3 p.m. The rain had subsided at the time of the further inspection of the pitch, but the referees felt that the soaked lawn was not playable.
A catch-up date has not yet been set, and allowing the game to take place this Sunday is not an option. “It should continue with the rain today at noon and into the night, since the conditions would not have changed either.”
