The 40-year-old goalkeeper Jailson will not renew his contract with Palmeiras, where he has been since 2014. Midfielder Felipe Melo, 38, will not continue either.

Palmeiras announced this Saturday night that the connection with goalkeeper Jailson has come to an end. The 40-year-old Brazilian ends his contract with Verdão at the end of the year and the bond will not be renewed.

It’s another departure from one of the most experienced players on the squad. Jailson has been in the São Paulo emblem since 2014 and now says goodbye, as does Felipe Melo, one of the captains.

In all, the keeper played 104 matches for Palmeiras and won several titles: the 2015 and 2020 Brazil Cups, the 2016 and 2018 Brazilian championships, the 2020 and 2021 Libertadores and the 2021 São Paulo championship.

Felipe Melo, 38, arrived in Verdão in January 2017 and won the 2018 Brasileirão, 2020 São Paulo, 2020 Brazil Cup and 2020 and 2021 Libertadores.
