It is not yet known if Ellen and Francis will officially become storms here, but one thing is certain: there will still be wind this weekend.

Certainly, it is not good to live in Belgium if it is difficult to stand up these days. Indeed, the past few weeks have been, you might say, windy, and the situation will not get better in the coming days. As explained this Monday, our country is about to welcome Ellen … and maybe Francis. After Ciara and Dennis, two more storm depressions are crossing the Atlantic and are expected to reach northwest Europe in the coming days.
Will we therefore be entitled to two new storms in the coming days? Unable to say at this time, but it will blow. And even if we cannot necessarily speak of a storm yet (it takes 9 Beaufort), we must therefore expect gusts up to 90 km / h: “But for Dennis, we did not think either that the winds would ultimately be so powerful, and ultimately it was. And in places, and at times, the storm Dennis was stronger than Ciara, “explained Frank Duboccage, Mister weather from VTM, to our colleagues at Laatste Nieuws this Monday.
According to the IRM, the wind will be “often strong” this weekend.
How to explain these repeated storms?
As explained by RTBF, these repeated storms are linked to the meeting between high pressure conditions in the south of Europe and disturbances in the north which allow each depression to influence the climate here.
It is this conflict between cold air from the North Pole and soft air, which concerns us, which creates a temperature difference. And the larger this difference, the faster the air will circulate.
But rest assured, even if we still have to hang on this weekend, we will remain very far from the records of 1940 (155km / h at Uccle) and 1990 (168 km / h at Beauvechain).
