As it became known to the Championship, the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) found a source of funding to pay a fine for numerous anti-doping rule violations.

In the near future, a tranche of $ 5 million will be transferred to the World Athletics account – this is a mandatory part of the fine, which must be paid before July 1.

The former VFLA leader agreed to pay this amount with World Athletics Dmitry Shlyakhtinwho signed all the documents. If the penalty is not paid, Russian athletes will not be able to participate in international tournaments even as neutral.

The total fine is $ 11.6 million. $ 5 million – actually a fine, $ 5 million – the amount on deposit as a conditional fine, $ 1.6 million – the cost of the commission to restore the VFLA.

Since November 13, 2015, the All-Russian Athletics Federation has been expelled from the membership of World Athletics (formerly IAAF) for an indefinite period. VFLA recovery process complicated due to the work of the 2017 vice world champion in high jump Daniil Lysenkowho missed three doping tests and presented a fake medical certificate as an excuse.

In mid-June, VFLA appealed to World Athletics to defer a fine, but was refused. June 23 stars of Russian athletics Maria Lasitskene, Sergey Shubenkov and Angelica Sidorova asked for help to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
