After announcing its withdrawal from Kherson two weeks ago, at least four people were killed and ten others injured in Russian shelling of the city on Thursday Kherson in southern Ukraineaccording to the city governor.
A fire breaks out in a building
Yaroslav Yanushevich, who heads the military administration in Kherson, wrote in Telegram that “Russians fired on a residential district with rocket launchers … a large building caught fire.”
Remove the stickers
The bombing coincides with Ukrainian authorities starting to remove and tear up posters expressing support for Russia, the benefits of obtaining Russian passports and pensions.
These placards have been replaced by other banners with slogans such as “Kherson… the city of heroes” and “Citizens, you are free”, printed on a yellow background.

Russian forces had showered the city with posters during the 9-month period of control over it.
Some banners carried the slogan “The future is with Russia”.
The first city fell
Interestingly, the Russian withdrawal from Kherson was a major setback for the Russian military, especially as it is the first major Ukrainian city to fall into its hands since the conflict broke out on February 24.
It also constitutes, together with Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhia, the four regions that the Kremlin announced at the end of September (2022) to annex.
Furthermore, its geographical position is of particular importance, as the region lies on the borders of the Dnipro, Petrovsk and Nikolaev regions, and has land borders with the Crimea to the south, while facing the Black Sea to the southwest and southeast the Sea of Azov.
