After a huge fallout, the son establishes a competitor takeaway adjacent to his father’s business.

Jonathan Lam, 39, is launching his own Chinese takeaway, New Lam’s, next door to his father’s business, Lam’s, following a dispute between the two. Jonathan, who worked at his father’s outlet for 20 years, claims he was let go from the family business after asking for a pay rise. His father, Ken Lam, 67, who has run Lam’s in Dublin’s Ballyfermot for the past 32 years, told reporters he let his son go after he asked for “high pay”. Both father and son have admitted the dispute has led to a silence between them. The rival Chinese eateries, which will sit side-by-side, are expected to begin trading within the next fortnight.
