After 9 years, mother locates the body of her son in the common grave

COAHUILA.

The wait ended for Lorena Vallejo, who for nine years began the search for her son, a young man then 18 years old, whose body was found in a mass grave in the La Paz de Saltillo pantheon, Coahuila.

Lorena Vallejo, mother of Mundo Vallejo, said that a year ago she began her fight to recover the corpse of her loved one with a sit-in at El Panteón La Paz, hoping that her requests would be heard.

In the exhumation work, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Coahuila (FGEC) participated jointly

After the sit-in held in August 2019, Lorena Vallejo obtained a response from the authorities, she narrates that it was the State Attorney General, Gerardo Márquez Guevara, who gave her an interview to begin with the exhumation.

She recalled that when her son was buried at that time there were only 12 bodies, but the number of remains was increasing, she closely followed the work carried out by the authorities.

“I was present in the pantheon, it lasted almost a month, it took a long time, there were too many bodies that were there, a grave three and a half or four meters deep, I think it was four by four, the grave was too big ”.

Lorena Vallejo recalls that her son disappeared at the end of October 2011, the date on which he began his agony, searching for him until he found him. She found out that her son’s body was in the Semefo of the then Attorney General’s Office (PGR) in Saltillo, “I don’t understand why they didn’t notify me, they had a copy of my son’s voter ID and they never told me ”.

According to the information provided by the authorities Cristhian Daniel Mundo Vallejo, died on December 15, 2011, but the mother found out in January 2012, so when she went to the PGR in Saltillo, the body was no longer in That place, they only show him photos and from that date he began his fight to recover the body.

Lorena Vallejo, now an activist and who is part of one of the groups of disappeared in Coahuila, said that on Thursday, August 13, the exhumation was carried out at 9 in the morning, later at the Semefo of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Coahuila; later, on Friday, August 14, he was handed over the remains to be transferred to Piedras Negras, where he finally gave him a Christian burial.

“He was 18 years old, he had just turned them, he was just beginning his life, they took him away,” says the grieving mother.

Mundo Vallejo was killed in a confrontation where, according to a document, it is indicated that the young man died of three or four gunshot wounds.

“Now that the exhumation was made in the medical certificate of the experts, it came out that my son had 20 bullet wounds,” he said.

Lorena Vallejo cannot understand how her son could stand for so long, resisting each bullet impact, because when one receives the first bullet, he immediately falls to the ground.

She stated that she is satisfied because she already has her son’s body, “he is closer now,” but she says she is not satisfied with the results of the investigations.

“I only ask God to give me strength and help me get ahead, to forget all this.”
