Earlier this month, Miguel Pacheco found the phone while canoeing with his family down the River Wye. “I didn’t think it was good. It was full of water,” he said.

Then he bought it at home and dried it properly. When she put the phone on charge, she was surprised to see that the phone was still working. The device’s screensaver was a photo of the couple with the date and time mentioned.

Later, to get in touch with the owner of the cell phone, he shared a post along with the family photos in a local group called Cinder’s Facebook Bulletin Board. The post received over 4,000 shares.

After further tracking, the photo was recognized by friends of the phone’s owner, Owain Davis, and his fiancée Fiona Gardner. the bbc reported. It was later given to him.

Davis said he was impressed by Miguel Pacheco’s efforts to bring his phone back to life. He added that he can’t believe he was returned in working order.

Describing the incident, he said: “I was in a two-person canoe and my partner probably shouldn’t have gotten up, and needless to say, we fell.”

“The phone was in my back pocket and as soon as I was in the water I realized the phone was missing,” he added.
