Africa Museum ends ‘hurtful’ summer campaign | Inland

The museum agrees with critics that “the wrong choices were made” and apologizes on Instagram to “anyone who has perceived our expressions as offensive. We adapt our working method. ”

The Africa Museum includes an indoor museum and a large outdoor area, where African villages have been recreated. In the summer campaign (see below) a white man and woman say to each other: „Nice day together in Ghana. Nice and far away in your own country. ” The black community in the Netherlands was annoyed by that video, because nothing is said about the slave trade that the Netherlands had in Ghana in previous centuries. “Ghana is not just a fun day out,” the critics said.

The museum withdraws all communications related to the campaign. “The reactions were justified,” reports the museum.
