Dresden (dpa / sn) – The AfD in the Saxon state parliament has called for more protection for children from sexual violence. “The state government must make more efforts to better protect children in problem families,” said Doreen Schwietzer, member of the state parliament, on Tuesday in Dresden when asked. In addition, children and youth centers should no longer remain closed during the Corona crisis: “These are the most important contacts for children who are affected by sexual violence.”

Schwietzer had previously asked the state parliament for data on sexual violence against children. The Ministry of the Interior listed offenses against sexual self-determination in girls and boys under the age of 14 for the period from 2010 to 2019. In 2019, 903 cases were recorded, in 2018 there were 783. In 2020, a total of 1324 accused were determined, and 86 proceedings against unknown persons were discontinued because a perpetrator could not be identified, it said. A total of 417 final convictions are registered with the public prosecutor’s offices.

According to the Interior Ministry, as of January 20 this year, 111 people were in custody for sexual offenses against children.
