AFAD announced how long the Marmaris earthquake lasted!

AFAD’s report included the following statements:

* 06/28/2020 days, 20 hours with Turkey: 43. epicenter of the Mediterranean, 3.67 km Marmaris (Mugla) An earthquake with magnitude 5.2 Mw occurred. The closest settlement of this earthquake, which occurred 63.72 km deep, is 8.09 km away from the Bayirköy village of the Marmaris district of Muğla. From the main shock until the 28.06.2020, 22:08, 6 aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 2.7 were recorded. The apparent duration of the earthquake was calculated as 10.71 seconds according to the first determinations.

* 1115 M> = 4.0 earthquakes have occurred in the region since 1900, the largest of which is 7.7. In addition, there are 112 historical earthquake records belonging to the region in question before 1900.

* According to the evaluation results made with 133 accelerometers, the largest acceleration was measured as 71.2899 gal in the North-South component of the 4811 coded accelerometer station.

* The information provided in this report has been compiled using the data produced in 1 hour after the earthquake occurred. It is important not to use damaged structures, if any, in the earthquake zone.

* The seismic activity of the region is monitored 24/7 by AFAD, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, which has the 2nd largest earthquake observation station network in Europe.
