Tony Khan Expresses Desire for Chris Jericho‘s Swift Return to AEW
All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan publicly reiterated his strong interest in bringing Chris Jericho back to the company “hopefully soon,” signaling a potential shift as Jericho’s current contract nears its expiration at year’s end. Khan’s comments came during an appearance on The Torg and Elliott Show on Thursday.
Jericho, a foundational figure in AEW since its inception, was the company’s inaugural World Champion and has been absent from programming since April, citing a need to step away amid declining crowd reactions. Khan emphasized Jericho’s lasting impact on AEW’s history and acknowledged the veteran wrestler remains in “great shape” and capable in the ring. While Khan remained tight-lipped on specifics, he encouraged fans to “stay tuned” for potential developments.
“Chris Jericho’s been here since the very beginning.and I have so much great respect for chris Jericho. I do really have to say I would love to have Chris Jericho in AEW any time,” Khan stated. “Yeah, we absolutely want Chris Jericho back in AEW, and hopefully soon.”
The possibility of Jericho’s return arrives as his AEW contract is set to expire at the end of 2023. Jericho himself recently acknowledged he is not opposed to a potential return to WWE, where he last wrestled in 2018, telling the Daily Mail, “Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it.” however, he also expressed a desire to maintain options, stating, “the best thing that can happen is that you have two great teams that you can play for.”
