Tony ⁤Khan ‌Eyes TV Deal ‍for ROH, But Warner Bros. ⁣Finding Partnership Remains Key

new ‍York, ⁤NY – July 20, 2023 – ‌All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and Ring of Honor (ROH) President tony Khan remains⁤ focused‍ on securing a television deal for ‌ROH, but stresses⁣ any expansion must align with the existing, crucial ⁢partnership with‍ Warner Bros.Discovery (WBD). while AEW has firmly established⁤ itself on TBS and TNT, ROH currently streams exclusively via ⁤its HonorClub ⁢service.

Speaking during a recent media call promoting the Death Before ⁢Dishonor pay-per-view (via Wrestling Inc.), Khan acknowledged the desire to broaden ROH’s reach. Despite consistently delivering weekly content and critically acclaimed pay-per-view events, the promotion lacks the‌ mainstream visibility a television deal would⁣ provide.

“To have another product in the market that I also control the media rights for, it doesn’t need to ‌necessarily‍ be the‍ AEW deal, but for me to do something different, it has to make sense on the scale ⁢for our partners,” Khan explained. “Because the warner ⁣Brothers Discovery partnership fuels everything. It allows ⁣me to maintain the⁣ level of this incredible roster of wrestlers, the production, and keep both companies flush with ‌great ⁣wrestlers and top events in top venues.”

This statement underscores the importance of the⁤ WBD relationship ⁤to Khan’s⁤ overall strategy. The current deal provides AEW with a stable platform ‌and the financial resources to maintain ‌a high level of production and talent acquisition. Any move to introduce another weekly ROH show would need to ⁢be financially viable for WBD and complement, rather than compete with, AEW’s existing programming.Fans have⁤ long speculated about ROH joining AEW on ⁣television, especially⁢ given ⁣the shared ownership. However, Khan’s comments suggest a cautious‌ approach, prioritizing a strategic fit within the broader media landscape.

The future‍ of ROH television ‌remains ⁢uncertain, but Khan’s commitment to exploring⁤ options, coupled with the strength ⁤of the WBD partnership, suggests the promotion isn’t giving up on reaching a wider audience.
