Aeon Must Die! State of Play announcement trailer, but it’s already controversy

Aeon Must Die! was announced today with a spectacular one trailer during the State of Play in August. The game, slated for 2021 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, appears to be a rather atypical fighting game. As soon as the first information came out, however, a ferocious burst broke out controversy on its development. The Limestone studio was accused of firing everyone who worked on the trailer and stealing the IP from the original creators. Many of these people, moreover, have not been paid.

Aeon Must Die! it’s one of the most interesting games shown at tonight’s State of Play. It is a fighting atypical, with RPG elements and a risk-reward mechanic. Any choice should influence the enemy’s attack, with an innovative combat system that will focus on the action.

Aeon Must Die! is scheduled for 2021 su PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One e Nintendo Switch.

A few seconds after the release of the trailerhowever, the controversy about the development of the game immediately broke out. It seems that everything happened behind the development of the game, with threats, abuses, layoffs and criminal cases still ongoing. It seems that everyone who worked on the trailer was fired and the development studio stole the original creators’ license after kicking them out of the development.

Stories of abuse of overtime emerge, of pirated software used to create the game, suite of unpaid animations, death threats, corruption, missed payments, stolen audio and stolen documents that paint a truly disturbing spy story painting. There are entire folders of documents to be combed through, of tests against the developers and the publisher, as well as discussions on the main forums in the world. And there are even those who evoke Jason Schreier, now a real champion of developer justice.

A situation that will have to be studied in detail, but that really casts a shadow disturbing about a game that, at this point, we don’t even know if it will ever hit stores. Who knows if Sony was aware of this whole situation, but let’s imagine not.

What do you think of all these things?
