Today we had our first video look at the game Aeon Must Die, which unfortunately became embroiled in controversy minutes after it was introduced during the State of Play from a while ago. Apparently, all its developers resigned for non-payment, in addition to suffering from the infamous crunch, but it was not only that, since they now report that they also “stole” the title.
In total, there were eight members who resigned from Aeon Must Die last June, but so far Limestone Games it has not publicly responded to these allegations. The gameplay trailer was uploaded again by third parties to YouTube, and the description says the following:
“This trailer was created with abuse, manipulation, and theft. The people who worked on each scene of this are no longer within the company that has the IP rights. Some of them were not even paid for their work. The true IP of the game was stolen from its creators through fraud. ”
Along with this description is also included a link to a Dropbox full of official documents about the legal dispute. We can find complaints from CCO, Aleksei Nehoroshkinwho co-founded Limestone Games in 2016, where he ensures that the CEO actual, Yaroslav Lyssenko, refused to hire more staff to work at Aeon Must Die, which resulted in a work overload for all involved. Nehoroshkin continues accusing the Lyssenko to partner with a strong shareholder to become the sole member of the board of directors and assume full control of the intellectual property of Limestone, While Nehoroshkin was totally focused on game development.
Additionally, it is said that all requests for support towards Focus Home InteractiveThe game’s publishers were ignored, but like Limestone Games, the latter have not ruled on it.
