During the interviews, it is checked whether the training or study of immigrants from abroad is recognized in Germany. The advisors also help to find financing options, accompany the refugees through the jungle of authorities free of charge or recommend necessary qualifications, according to the education center in a message. The city of Ingolstadt has had an integration department for many years. New citizens who come to the region and are looking for their place in society should be forwarded to the right contact person for the respective issue in a short way via a large network. Integration Commissioner Ingrid Gumplinger speaks of a gain for the immigrants, but also for companies with needs, for example in the medical and care sector as well as in the manufacturing industry: “Without foreign skilled workers, the shortage in the region cannot be covered.”
Recognition is not equally important for every job. Some occupations, such as a doctor, teacher or lawyer, may only be carried out by people with a foreign qualification if full equivalence with the German reference occupation has been officially established. For the vast majority of jobs, this is not absolutely necessary. DK
