Adolescents with obesity who feel unable to control their hunger are more likely to have a negative perception of their body, according to a study presented at the European Congress on Obesity. Researchers analysed data from 5,275 adolescents with a body mass index in the 95th percentile or higher for their age and gender who took part in the ACTION Teens study across 10 countries. The study indicated that 56% of teenagers who reported that they were unable to control their hunger as a barrier to weight loss said that their weight made them unhappy, and 48% reported body insecurity. They also displayed poorer eating habits and weight management behaviours.
