Mack, best known for his role in the TV series Smallville, has pleaded guilty.
In court, she said she had broken up with cult leader Keith Raniere in the group NXIVM, and that she had made choices she “would always regret”.

The sentence was 14 to 17 years in prison, but her defenders have argued for release or home imprisonment. The prosecution also thought that the sentencing should be under the guidelines due to Mack’s cooperation.
NXIVM has been the subject of a number of revelations over several years. They demanded thousands of dollars for “self-development courses” at their headquarters in Albany, New York, and had branches in Mexico and Canada.
Last year, Raniere was sentenced to 120 years in prison for a number of offenses, including extortion and human trafficking. He is said to have made followers of sex slaves and to have marked some of them with his own initials.
