Actor sues marijuana dispensary over “Borat” sign – Telemundo New England

Actor Sacha Baron Cohen is suing a Somerset marijuana dispensary for $ 9 million.

According to WJAR-TV, a Solar Therapeutics billboard displayed earlier this year featured his popular character “Borat.”

According to the lawsuit filed Monday, Cohen is suing Solar Therapeutics for copyright infringement and misleading advertising.

In the lawsuit, his attorney said the actor had never used marijuana products and would never participate in an advertising campaign for such products.

“Mr. Baron Cohen has never been involved in the advertising of commercial products or services anywhere in the United States or the United Kingdom, despite the myriad opportunities to do so,” the lawsuit states.

Baron Cohen’s attorneys sent Solar Therapeutics a cease and desist letter to remove the billboard, and they did.

The company has not compensated Cohen for using the “Borat” image, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
