Actor Karel Zima has said goodbye to his freedom. The wedding will be every day

Do you have nerves?
Not really. After all, a person is older and not so many things throw him away. But it’s easier to impress again. (laughter)

You’ve been married before. Many men almost cross each other after a failed marriage before the second marriage and vehemently reject it. You go for it…
But I do not consider my first marriage to be a failure, even though it is no longer going on and ended eleven years ago. A marriage that lasts until death can be far less successful. And then… at the first wedding there were ten people. Now I have the opportunity to enjoy a wedding with a hundred wedding guests.

Your future wife is younger, that will come in handy, right? Do you feel rejuvenated? Or are you still young and not aging?
When I can’t find glasses, I feel pretty old. (laughs) But otherwise I feel good… it’s not just about age.

You celebrated a milestone in December. How does a 50-year-old feel “running”?
Definitely better than a 20-year-old Ukrainian soldier. No one here has any problems compared to the people of Ukraine. And otherwise I feel great too!

I read somewhere that you like to bet. What was the last time?
I don’t bet that much now, but sometimes I still do. Maybe even just who is right and then it’s a “googling”. (laughs) But before, it was also about how long it would rain, whether in ten minutes or more.

And are you more lucky in the game or in love?
Well I would say really in both !? Should I be ashamed?

You drove a rally, your head will probably be clear. How do you clear your head now?
In fact, I never needed to clean my head. Racing was adrenaline, fun and at the same time finding boundaries. Learning responsibility. Joining discipline and passion. And nowhere else, just like behind the wheel, you can’t experience much.

At the theater, you are cast more in comedic roles. Will the actor jump for joy when the offer comes to Shakespeare and the shed – straight to Macbeth?
Well, lately I’ve been getting more and more serious roles and I’m happy for that. But of course, after the Shakespearean offer, I jumped with joy. (laughter)

Isn’t your acting break that more character roles will start coming after fifty? And would you even like them for them?
I don’t know if it’s completely age-related. Maybe a coincidence ?! And yes, I’m happy for them. But this is not the most important criterion.

Is it every actor’s dream to play Shakespeare?
I can’t speak for others, but I admit I’ve never had dreams of this kind.

What makes Shakespeare unique, why is it a guarantee of quality and people like to go to it so much?
I’m not a “shakespearologist”, but I think it’s just timeless… I know it sounds like a phrase, but it’s true. The basic human feelings, natures, virtues and vices are still the same in people.
