Actor Gaspard Ulliel dies at the age of 37 in a ski accident – Culture & Entertainment

French actor Gaspard Ulliel, best known for his portrayal of Yves Saint Laurent and César Award for ‘Juste la fin du monde’, died today at the age of 37, victim of a skiing accident: this is what his family announced in a note sent to France Presse. “Victim of a ski accident today, Gaspard Ulliel is dead”; reads the press release.

Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, on November 25, 1984, Ulliel was known to the general public for films such as ‘A long Sunday of passions’ (Un long dimanche de fiançailles) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet (2004), ‘Saint Laurent’ (2014) by Bertrand Bonello, ‘It is only the end of the world’ (Juste la fin du monde, 2016) by Xavier Dolan, with who won the César – French equivalent of the Oscar – for Best Actor in 2017. Ulliel also played the role of cannibal psychiatrist in Hannibal Lecter – The Origins of Evil (Hannibal Rising), directed by Peter Webber (2007). Throughout his rich career, despite his young age, he has filmed alongside great names in French cinema such as Isabelle Huppert and Gérard Depardieu. He also lent his angel face to a Chanel commercial directed by Martin Scorsese. France today loses one of its brightest and most promising actors.
