Acquittal after being shot in a doctor’s office

After a woman shot around with a blank gun in a Cologne doctor’s office last May, she has now been acquitted by the regional court. She was mentally ill and acted madly.

Last May, a 44-year-old woman from Cologne fired a blank pistol at the office hours assistant in a doctor’s practice on Neumarkt. She made death threats. The Cologne district court has now acquitted the woman. This is reported by the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”.

The acquittal is justified with incapacity, as the woman was attested to have paranoid schizophrenia. The main focus of the proceedings was whether the woman is considered a danger to the general public and must therefore be permanently housed in a psychiatric clinic. Yes and no, was the answer, the judge suspended the possible placement on probation. For three years, the woman must be strictly controlled and regularly visit a psychiatric day clinic.

Shots for a long wait

Because the office hours assistant suffered a bang trauma from the gunshots, the public prosecutor’s office was initially charged with dangerous physical harm. Ultimately, it remained with negligence, since the defendant, according to the defense, were not aware of the consequences of blank cartridges.

The reason for the fact that the woman was even carrying a weapon was that she felt delusional threat on that day. Because, from her point of view, she had to wait too long in the practice, she shot the office hours assistant. This then barricaded themselves with the doctor in the treatment room.
