Aconite in Kyrgyzstan for treatment of coronavirus leads to scandal

A scandal erupted in Kyrgyzstan after it turned out that patients with coronavirus were being treated with aconite decoction without their knowledge. This is a poisonous plant, the use of which can lead to death.

It is reported that no scientific research has been carried out on the treatment with aconite. The scandal erupted after the Minister of Health Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, at the suggestion of President Sadyr Japarov, admitted that in the second wave of COVID patients had already been treated with aconite, but they did not talk about it.

After the minister’s statements, social media users began to report that patients were being brought “herbal cough tea”, but did not ask for consent to such treatment.

“In the Kyrgyz language, aconite is called uu korgoshun (the name itself contains the word” poison “), and when they hear this, many will not understand and do not want to be treated … Therefore, from yesterday I told all doctors to call aconite,” Beishenaliev explained.

He also promised to prepare documents on clinical trials, but did not specify when.

At the same time, today the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan approved the fifth version of the clinical guideline on COVID-19, but it still does not contain aconite. At the same time, local human rights activists are calling for an end to experiments on patients.
