Acer machines are leveling everything

True to its good habit, Acer has crammed all the new technology it has just announced into its new machines, and even in the spring, you can experience what a bloody 2022 PC looks like.

January 4th was a busy day: Intel, AMD and Nvidia poured new chips and technologies around our necks, and they didn’t even hide their vision. Of course, new developments aren’t worth anything if PC makers don’t jump on it right away, and as we’ve become accustomed to, Acer hasn’t held back.

The result has been a PC launch in which everyone can find an exciting new piece for themselves, but it is clear that the 2022 Acer fleet will be the most exciting for gamers and content producers.

The Predators are your friends

With the Predator and Nitro families dominating the gaming section, you can already prepare for the dizzying performance of the 12th generation Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 6000 processors, as each machine will be flown by these central units. Intel is, of course, the H-Series, not a low-power version, so the Predator Triton 500 SE will have an Intel Core i9 CPU rumble with 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and the latest GeForce RTX 3080 games are in a hurry to help – because Nvidia also announced this most powerful mobile GPU on the 4th. Acer engineers have also made sure that the exterior fits into the latest trend of making the notebook more elegant than bazaar on the outside, so the machine’s aluminum cover is minimalist and can even be taken to work.

We can’t leave out the display from the list of main components, which supports and calibrates QHD resolution, 500-nits, G-Sync, but not OLED, but instead 240 Hz, which is ideal for gaming. Additional extras include the Thunerbolt 4 port, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5 GbE and three-fan cooling, and interestingly, it got a 100 Wh battery so you can pull it off for a long time on a single charge.

The Helios 300 has also sucked in new chips, allowing either an RTX 3080 or RTX 3070 Ti GPU to drive a 15.6-inch, QHD, 165Hz IPS display. This machine is even more striking, in addition to the RGB keyboard, you can also flash the side light bar to your liking, and you can even instantly maximize performance with the turbo button. Predator machines will start up from € 2,300 when launched in February, and will cost € 3,500 for the Triton 500 SE.

Nitro – value for money above all else

The Nitro series is very popular in Hungary as well, and fortunately Acer also likes it and has thoroughly renovated it. You’ll also get the QHD 165 Hz display in the Nitro 5-Series, the 12th-generation Intel Core i7 (though the i9 isn’t officially reported), and even an AMD Ryzen 6000 CPU, while the most powerful GPU is the RTX 3070 Ti on this machine. As expected in paper form, the Thunderbolt 4 port will remain the prerogative of smart machines, but gamers choosing AMD won’t be disappointed with their future-proof USB4 connection (which also provides 40 Gbit / s bandwidth).

The first Nitro 5s will arrive in February, but the AMD model is only expected in April. The starting price is 1549 Euros, while buffalo configures can also rub the 2000 Euros limit.

Swift X – ultraportable, yet not weak

The Swift family doesn’t need to be introduced: we’ve seen excellent models from entry level to mid-upper, but the current one is trying to bid on all its predecessors. The 1.4kg, 14 “Swift X is housed in a full aluminum case, and the 12th generation Intel CPU has a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU for occasional gaming (off-hours, of course). Acer has switched to an aspect ratio of 2240 × 1400 (2560 × 1600 for the 16 “model), but you need to be prepared for an IPS panel instead of OLED.

Monitor revolution

the Predator X32 gaming monitor also won CES innovation awards, which is no wonder Acer is a very strong name in the world of gamer monitors. The display did not deserve recognition with an OLED panel, but with local dimming backlit IPS panels, where it is not an edge WLED backlight but a 576-zone miniLED solution hidden behind the panel.

With this, the 32-inch, 4K monitor complies with the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 standard (meaning peak brightness of 1000 nites), and the contrast is significantly better, while the 165 Hz refresh rate and low response time guarantee you won’t miss a thing. In addition to the CES committee, Nvidia also prioritizes this monitor, so the X32 is G-Sync Ultimate certified, and you can take advantage of Nvidia Reflex technology to ensure that not a single mouse click delays unnecessary ms.

Which you can only admire from afar

Acer is also very strong in the Chromebook market, but unfortunately the very friendly machines arriving between 370-600 Euros are still not expected in Hungary. Yet the latest version of Chrome OS runs on sleek, sleek and durable, thin and light machines, featuring a unique interface on the Chromebook Spin 513’s high-resolution 13.5 “3: 2 touchscreen, for example. in addition to Intel CPUs, Acer has introduced the new 8-core MediaTek Kompanio 1380 SoC, which is low-power yet powerful enough for everyday tasks.

The other eccentric novelty is the release of the Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic, which is not just a loudly named, limited edition laptop, but designed specifically in an environmentally friendly way. For example, the housing is made of 30% recycled plastic and the box can be converted into a laptop stand. Although the CPU is only an 11th generation Intel Core chip, the machine is quite easy to install, repair and expand, so it can perform well for many, many years without becoming a dangerous e-waste.

If you’re in France in March this year, you can even pocket one of this unique and cool-looking, eco-friendly laptop for € 900.
